Bronwen Powell is an Asssitant Professor of Geography and African Studies. Her work examines the social, cultural and environmental determeinants of human diet and nutrition. She has spent a large portion of her career living and working in Africa including in: Tanzania, Kenya, Morocco, Ethiopia and Burkina Faso. She has recently joined Penn State University after 3.5 years as a post-doctoral researcher with the Center for International Forestry Research. She holds a PhD in Human Nutrition from McGill University in Canada and an MSc in Ethnobiology from the Department of Anthropology at the University of Kent, in Canterbury, England.
